Hydrangea serrata Magic Pillow 3L

A compact mountain hydrangea from the Magical series, prized for its dainty lacecap flowers and refined, tidy habit. Delicate blooms open in shades of pink or blue depending on soil pH, surrounded by a ring of paler, star-shaped florets for a soft, romantic effect. Foliage often takes on attractive reddish tones in autumn, adding a second season of interest. Its naturally compact size makes it an excellent choice for smaller gardens, containers, or the front of a border.

Position: Partial shade to full sun, though some shelter from harsh afternoon sun is beneficial. Prefers moist, well-drained soil.

Height & spread: Reaches approximately 60–80cm in height and spread at maturity.

Care: Prune lightly after flowering to remove spent blooms and maintain shape; flowers on old wood, so avoid hard pruning in late winter or spring. Water well during dry spells, particularly while establishing. Mulch annually to retain moisture and improve soil condition. Flower colour can be influenced by soil pH — more acidic soils tend to produce bluer tones, while neutral to alkaline soils favour pink.
